11 Myths About Sex in Old Age
What the Young Don’t Know and the Elderly Don’t Tell
Sex in old age is still taboo, but after chatting with older friends and family, I discovered there’s a lot more action between the sheets than we imagine. Let’s debunk some myths I found to be pure bull.
1- Sexual desire disappears with age
Blatant lie. Horniness has no expiration date. A 65-year-old friend confessed: “Now I’m feeling like a real tigress in bed!”
2- Sexual pleasure decreases in old age
Another load of crap. A 58-year-old acquaintance assured me: “It might be less frequent, but when it happens, it’s like New Year’s fireworks — spectacular and unforgettable!”
3- The elderly aren’t interested in sex or intimacy
Total nonsense. A 61-year-old widow told me: “Just because my husband’s gone doesn’t mean my vagina’s closed for business!”
4- Physical limitations make sex impossible
The body changes, but creativity compensates. A couple in their 60s revealed: “We discovered that sex in a rocking chair is great for the back and hell for excitement!”
5- Menopause and andropause are the end of sexual life
