You’ve been married for 15 years, together for 20.

You think you know your partner like the back of your hand.

And then, on an ordinary day, his phone rings.

A name that shouldn’t be there appears on the screen.

Your world crumbles….

This is exactly what happened to an acquaintance of mine.

We met at a cafe, her eyes red and swollen, hands shaking as she held her coffee cup.

“Fuck,” she told me, her voice choked. “Three years. He’s been fucking with my head for three fucking years.”

I sat there in silence for a moment, trying to process what she was telling me.

“How did you find out?” I finally asked.

She let out a bitter laugh.

“In the stupidest way possible. His phone rang while he was sleeping. The name on the screen? A ‘friend’ I had questioned him about two years ago.”

Her husband had been having an affair. And it wasn’t a one-night slip-up, no. It was three years of lies, deceptions, and betrayals.
