I reflect on trust — that fundamental pillar supporting our most intimate relationships — and how its perversion can destroy entire lives.

I remember when I first read about the case that shook Ireland. An 18-year-old girl, a daughter like so many others, who trusted her father to protect her.

A trust that proved to be the most devastating weapon against her.
