When a Narcissistic Husband Goes Too Far

Holy crap. That’s all I can think after hearing my friend’s story. She called me last night, her voice choked up, barely able to speak.

“He got her pregnant. That jerk got his employee pregnant.” That’s how the most surreal conversation of my life began, a conversation that made me question everything I thought I knew about relationships and trust.

Her husband has always been a first-class narcissist. You know, one of those guys who thinks he’s God’s gift to the world?

He runs some successful businesses and acts like he owns the place. My friend tells me he even does charity work, but not out of genuine concern for others. It’s just to feed his God complex, to feel superior and benevolent. It’s disgusting, really.

A while back, he hired a new girl for the office.

A young thing in her twenties, a real looker. My friend admitted she was jealous at first, and who could blame her? But the husband justified the hire by saying he needed a pretty girl to attract donors.

Looking back now, it seems obvious it was all bull, doesn’t it?
