It deeply irritates me that we have to celebrate as “historic” a decision that should be basic.

Yet here I am, analyzing how we need a court to declare that people deserve a roof over their heads, regardless of who they love.

The irony is stark: in one of the world’s largest financial centers, where square footage is worth gold, we spent years in courts deciding whether same-sex couples can… live together. Frankly.

When I read the government’s argument about “procreation,” I laugh.

Not from joy, but that uncomfortable laugh we let out when something is so absurd we don’t know how else to react.

How many childless heterosexual couples live in public housing? Does anyone ask them for a fertility certificate?

What fascinates me is Nick Infinger’s persistence.

Fighting for the obvious since 2018. Five years to prove that love is love and that everyone needs a place to call home. Think about that.

Hong Kong follows in the footsteps of Taiwan and Thailand. Three traditionally conservative Asian societies.

And we, who pride ourselves on being so progressive in the West, how many barriers
