I’ll Message You When I Leave Work 😚…
How did we get to this point?
A message, a simple kiss emoji, and an entire marriage crumbles like a house of cards. But is it really that simple?
Is a marriage that falls apart because of a message already doomed from the start?
Let’s take a step back.
Since cave times, humans have been trying to figure out this complicated thing called relationships. We started with polygamy, moved to monogamy forced by religion and society, and now we’re in this weird limbo where we swear eternal fidelity, but we all have one foot in and one foot out.
The truth is that fidelity has always been a complicated concept for us, evolved primates that we are. Our ancestors didn’t worry much about it. It was more a matter of survival and passing on genes. But then society evolved, we created rules, morals, religions, and suddenly cheating became very ugly.
But have we really changed that much?
Or have we just gotten better at hiding and justifying our impulses?
Look around you.
How many couples do you know who are truly faithful? And I’m not just talking about physical fidelity. I’m talking about emotional fidelity, thoughts, desires.
