After weeks of watching TikTok videos about the “magnesium miracle” — a hashtag with a billion views, no less — there I was at the pharmacy, convinced I’d found the magical solution to my sleepless nights.

And I’m not alone in this obsession.

We’re an entire generation searching for quick fixes to our growing anxiety and persistent insomnia. But while we religiously share videos about magnesium supplements, are we stopping to question if this is really the answer we’re looking for?

The most fascinating thing about this whole story is how we went from “here, have some chamomile tea” to “what’s your favorite type of magnesium?” And yes, apparently there are now different types for each problem — it’s like choosing ice cream flavors, but for mental health.

Let’s look at the facts unfiltered: 45% to 50% of Americans don’t reach the recommended daily doses of magnesium.
