Why do so many parents accept their teenage children having sex?

Are we failing our teenagers?

I really need to vent about something that’s been driving me crazy.

I’m not a mother, but as a woman, I see things around me that make me wonder if the world has gone mad.

You know that feeling when something is deeply wrong, but you seem to be the only one noticing?

That’s exactly how I feel when I see parents calmly accepting their teenage kids having sex as if it’s the most natural thing in the world.

The other day, I was in a cafe and overheard a conversation between two mothers.

One of them was proudly talking about how she had taken her 14-year-old daughter to the gynecologist to start taking birth control pills.

The other agreed, saying it was better to prevent than to remedy.

I was speechless! Since when did we become so permissive?

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not some old-fashioned prude who thinks we should go back to the times when sex was taboo.

Far from it!

I firmly believe in the importance of sex education.

But there’s a huge difference between educating and giving carte blanche, don’t you think?
